FAQS

What type of user is the Indiana 8 aimed at?
It is designed for professionals looking for power and lightness for felling and chopping tasks. Its 45 cc 2-stroke engine delivers 2.41 HP (1.8 kW), a ratio suitable for demanding jobs while maintaining a manageable weight.
What bars can you assemble and which one must be purchased separately?
Accepts 16", 18" and 20" bars with 0.325" pitch chain. The chainsaw is sold without bar and chain. Garland offers compatible combos specific to Indiana in these three sizes (references 40G-0150, 40G-0151 and 40G-0153) that make it easy to make the right choice.
What length of blade should be chosen depending on the job?
As a general criterion, the shorter bars (16") are more manageable and faster in chopping branches and medium-sized trunks; the 18" ones offer a versatile balance and the 20" ones expand the cutting capacity for larger diameter trunks at the cost of slightly more weight and consumption. It is advisable to adjust the choice to the usual type of task.
What makes the engine more durable?
It incorporates a hardened crankshaft, aluminum cylinder and piston with anti-friction treatment that reduces heating and extends useful life, and a lighter, more resistant magnesium crankcase with better heat dissipation.
What security and maintenance elements does it provide?
It has a chain brake and automatic lubrication with automatic lubricant pump and 0.25 l oil tank. The air filter is accessible without tools for quick cleaning or replacement. As a standard accessory it includes a pipe wrench for basic maintenance.
How much runtime and what fuel capacity does it have?
The fuel tank is 0.55 l and the runtime declared on the sheet is 23.38 minutes, with a consumption of 0.533 kg/kWh. Being 2T, it requires a mixture of gasoline with specific oil for two-stroke engines in the proportion indicated in the manual.
